Youth Empowerment Summit

2nd annual even for high school aged students (grade 8 and 10) held this year at Selkirk College April 26 and 27.

The Youth Empowerment Summit (YES) is building on healthy choices youth have to make every day. The YES partners with local experts ie social workers, prevention workers, counsellors and police to help create discussions with youth on some of those difficult topics. These discussions help provide accurate information to make good choices and self empower our young people.

At this year’s event there were a stagging 1100 students at Selkirk College Castlegar over the course of two days from grade 8 and 10 from all corners of the West Kootenay. $2000 of prizes were given away along with a fantastic keynote presentation from former professional football player Angus Reid from the CFL.
